We produced landscape plans for this 180 home residential development on the banks of the River Taw in Barnstaple.
Integrating Green Infrastructure and Development
This new development is located on the southern side of the River Taw in Barnstaple occupying the site of a long-stay car park. The car park has been relocated to a nearby location to the south. The proposals included the adjacent riverside green corridor and flood defence area which have been integrated with the development forming a linear park along the riverside. Collaboration between Greenearth Landscape, the client, ecologist, architect and the council resulted in a scheme that will provide housing with integrated multi-functional greenspace. The proposals included extensive tree planting, native shrub and hedge planting, areas of species rich grassland and attenuation basins seeded with native wetland species. Greenearth also produced plans for the new long-stay car park. The design for this included native tree and shrub planting and enhancement of the existing grassland areas.
