Ecologically Informed Design
Greenearth Landscape worked with the residents, the architect and Teignbridge District Council to develop an ecologically inspired landscape scheme that would create a setting for the new homes and multi-functional green space for the residents while also providing benefits for wildlife. Close liaison with the local planning authority was involved to overcome concerns regarding views of new built form and proximity of new housing to the existing trees and hedges. The resulting scheme was granted planning permission in 2014 and includes native tree planting, native species hedgrows on Devon hedgebanks, wildflower meadow seeding, a new orchard area planted with local heritage apple varieties, a food growing area and well as a play area that uses natural materials.
