We developed a landscape scheme for this flagship project in Cornwall, creating a landscape that is appropriate to the context and that provides for the amenity needs of the users as well as providing valuable ecological habitats.
Design for People and Wildlife
This site covers an area of moorland near Victoria in Cornwall, adjacent to the A30 and this gateway service station comprises of a petrol station as well as a hotel, leisure and retail facilites. Key constraints included the moorland setting of the site and the potential for habitat loss as well as the potential for views of the complex from the nearby A30. We developed a comprehensive scheme that included areas of amenity planting around the building as well as areas of native woodland, hedgerows, standard tree planting and species rich grassland seeding. The scheme also included wetland areas associated with drainage basins. Planting was chosen that was suited to the exposed and elevated moorland setting.
